Through The Writing Gym, I consult with writers on a regular, ongoing basis. I offer both developmental and sentence-level editing as well as writing consultation. Through project management, I take care of the details for academics editing collaborative anthologies or researchers putting together reports with multiple contributors. See my portfolio and testimonials page for more on my experience.
With Ursula K. Heise and Jon Christensen, I co-edited The Routledge Companion to the Environmental Humanities, which was published in January 2017. My scholarly work has appeared in Modernism/modernity, the Journal of Modern Literature and Victorian Poetry. My current book project, Organic Forming: Poetry, Ecology, Food, examines how twentieth-century poets and sustainable farming advocates have used metaphors of the poem or the farm as an organism to remake poetic and social forms.
I earned my PhD in English from University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I served as assistant director of the Writing Center in 2013-2014. From 2014 to 2016, I coordinated the Mellon Sawyer Seminar on the Environmental Humanities as a postdoc at UCLA. Rigorous interdisciplinarity, process-based writing pedagogy, and community-building are key to my values as a scholar — and as a writing consultant and editor.
